How Gold Star Contractors Was Born in Corona
We started Gold Star Contractors in 2012 because of a kitchen renovation we watched go sideways in Home Gardens. The homeowner had signed a fixed contract, but every week brought a new change order. The tile was “more expensive than expected.” The subfloor needed “unplanned reinforcement.” By the time the counters went in, the original number was a distant memory. The work itself was fine. The process was broken.
Around the same time, a family in Corona asked us to look at a bathroom another crew had walked away from. The shower pan leaked, the grout was cracking, and the waterproofing had been skipped entirely behind the walls. They had paid for a job that was falling apart within a year. We tore it out and rebuilt it properly. The look on their faces when they saw the finished shower told us something: Corona homeowners weren’t looking for shortcuts. They were looking for someone to do it right the first time.
That was the moment we decided to build a company around a simple idea: give homeowners an honest price, show up when we say we will, and stand behind the work long after the final check clears. Fourteen years later, that’s still the whole plan.
Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Construction Trade
Construction didn’t start as a career choice. It started as a way to fix things that were broken. When we were young, money was tight and if something went wrong around the house, it got fixed with whatever was available and a lot of patience. We learned early that a person’s hands could fix what they could not afford to replace. There was something quietly satisfying about making something work again.
The first time we watched a tradesman frame a wall, we couldn’t stop watching. The smell of fresh lumber, the sound of a chalk line snapping, the way a tape measure felt in the hand. There was a rhythm to it that made sense. We apprenticed, learned from every tradesman who would teach us, and spent years on job sites learning what good work looks like and what corners people cut when they think no one is watching.
What keeps us in this trade after all these years is simpler than you might expect: it’s the moment a project transitions from a mess of raw materials into something a family will live with for decades. A kitchen where kids do homework. A bathroom where someone unwinds after a long shift. A roof that keeps the rain out during a bad Corona storm. We get to build the backdrop of people’s lives, and that’s not a responsibility we take lightly.
If we weren’t building, we’d still be fixing. It’s just in our nature.
Meet Our Team – The Person Behind Every Job
The person behind Gold Star Contractors is an owner who has spent more than a decade in the construction trade, doing everything from small repairs to full remodels. We’ve been on job sites in Riverside, Norco, Eastvale, and throughout the Inland Empire long enough to know that every home tells a story, and that the best work respects the story that’s already there.
What sets us apart from a corporate franchise technician is personal accountability. When we give you a price, it’s the price we’ll honor. When we start a project, we’re the ones making sure it gets finished right. Outside of work, we’re builders at heart. We restore old things, we tinker, and we don’t rest until the job passes our own inspection first.
Our commitment to our customers is simple: we won’t leave your home until the work is done right and you understand exactly what was done and why. If something isn’t right, we’ll come back and make it right. That’s not a policy. That’s how we operate.
Our Promise to Corona Homeowners
We promise honest pricing. When we give you an estimate, it’s based on the actual scope of work, not on what we think we can get away with. If the job changes because you change your mind, we’ll tell you the new cost before we touch anything. No surprise bills at the end.
We promise quality materials. We use names like American Standard and Toto because they hold up over time. We’d rather install a fixture once than replace it twice.
We promise to stand behind our work. If something we built fails because of how we built it, we’ll come back and fix it. That’s been true since 2012 and it hasn’t changed once.
Our Credentials
- State-licensed – every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires for the work they perform.
- Insured and bonded – homeowners are protected if anything goes wrong on the job.
- Over a decade of local experience – we’ve worked in Corona and surrounding cities since 2012.
- Strong local reputation – long-term relationships with homeowners throughout the Inland Empire, built on honest work and honest pricing.
When you hire someone to work in your home, you’re letting a stranger into the place your family sleeps. Licensing and insurance mean that stranger is accountable. Experience means the job is done right. Reputation means you can trust the person who shows up at your door. Those aren’t just words on a website. They’re the foundation of every project we take on.
Rooted in Corona
Corona isn’t just where we work. It’s where we live. We know the older homes in the Grand Boulevard area and the newer developments in South Corona. We’ve worked on homes near Citrus Park and down toward the 15 freeway corridor. We shop at the same grocery stores and drive the same roads as our customers.
When the Santa Ana winds pick up or the summer heat puts real stress on roofs and siding, we know what those conditions do to local homes because we see it every year. That kind of local knowledge can’t be learned from a manual. It comes from being here, doing the work, year after year, since 2012.
