Why Corona Homeowners Choose Toto Construction
Toto service in Corona means something specific here: we install, repair, and re-fit Toto toilets, Washlet bidet seats, and Neorest smart fixtures in homes where the water is hard, the rough-ins are often 25 to 50 years old, and the tracts south of the 91 are hitting the remodel age all at once. We’re an independent contractor crew, not a Toto dealer or authorized service center, and we’ve handled Toto work across hundreds of Corona bathroom and kitchen remodels. When we pull a Toto spec sheet, we’re working to California code and Corona’s actual water conditions, not to a manufacturer agreement. Call (833) 382-8544 to schedule a free estimate.

Why Trust Gold Star Contractors for Your Toto Construction?
Noel Carranza, our owner and general contractor, grew up in Anaheim’s Platinum Triangle watching tract homes get taken apart and put back together block by block, then studied construction technology at Fullerton College before spending his twenties on concrete and finish carpentry across Orange County. That background matters on Toto work, because a Toto fixture rarely fails in isolation. The toilet leaks because the rough-in shifted, or the Washlet throws a fault code because the inlet water has 15 grains of hardness eating at the filter. We diagnose the whole situation, not just the symptom.
We spec genuine Toto replacement parts: fill valves, flappers, wax rings, and Washlet components. Aftermarket copies of the G-Max and Tornado flush systems underperform, and they void the reason you bought a Toto in the first place. We carry the common service parts on the truck for most two-piece Drake and Ultramax II calls, which means we’re usually finishing the job in one visit instead of ordering and coming back. And on multi-trade remodels, Gold Star Contractors coordinates the tile, the fixtures, and the plumbing rough-in under one team, so a Toto install doesn’t get blamed for a problem the flooring crew created.

Common Toto Construction Problems We Fix in Corona
- Washlet seat failures from hard-water scale. Corona’s municipal supply carries heavy dissolved minerals, and after two or three years, the internal nozzles on Toto Washlet C-series and S-series seats get crusty. You’ll see weak spray pressure, partial clogging, or a sensor fault code. Homeowners often assume the seat is dead. More often, the nozzles need descaling and the inlet filter needs replacement. We see this constantly in Corona Hills and Sierra Del Oro, where the same water has been running through the same pipes since the 1980s. Scale kills Washlet seats far more often than any electrical failure, and a descaling service call is a fraction of the cost of a new seat.
- Neorest units throwing error codes from clogged inlet filters and scaled pumps. A Toto Neorest is a beautiful machine until it isn’t. These integrated smart toilets have multiple inlet screens and a pump that moves water from the tank through the cleansing system. In Corona’s hard water, those screens plug and the pump strains, and the control board starts flashing codes that read as catastrophic. We recently had a customer in south Corona with two Neorest units throwing repeated errors. Both toilets were fine underneath; both had scaled inlet filters and worn washlet hoses. We pulled the units, cleared the mineral buildup, replaced the hoses, and saved both fixtures. Before you replace a Neorest, let someone pull the filters and test the pump.
- Constant running on Drake and Ultramax toilets. The Toto Drake (CST743 and CST744 series) and the one-piece Ultramax II use a specific fill valve design that generic replacement parts don’t seat properly into. When the flapper or fill valve wears, the toilet runs constantly, and you’ll see it on the water bill before you hear it. The fix is a genuine Toto 528T fill valve or equivalent G-Max flapper, not the universal part from the hardware store. Generic parts almost always fit loose and phantom-run within a few weeks. In a Corona tract home built in the 1990s, we’re at the point where original Drakes and early Ultramax units are all aging out together, so this is one of our most common service calls.
- Wax-ring failures and rough-in mismatches on retrofit installs. When a Toto toilet gets swapped into an older Corona bathroom, the rough-in measurement matters. Most Toto models are designed for a 12-inch rough-in from the finished wall to the center of the flange. Older homes near the historic downtown circle and Grand Boulevard sometimes measure 10 or 14 inches, and forcing a 12-inch Toto onto the wrong flange leaves a gap behind the tank and puts the wax ring under shear. That leads to slow leaks at the base, stained flooring, and eventually subfloor rot. If the rough-in is off, the fix is an offset flange or a different bowl, not caulk piled around the base.
- Low-flow fill valve adjustments after installation. California code requires 1.28 gallons per flush or less, and Toto’s Tornado flush system is tuned for that volume. But if a fill valve isn’t adjusted correctly after installation, the tank either underfills, leaving a weak flush, or overfills and runs intermittently. We set every Toto fill valve to the specific water line marked on the tank, then test the flush cycle three times. On one small-bath remodel in the Temescal Valley, we set a new Drake with a fresh wax ring and adjusted a low-flow fill valve that had been phantom-running since install, and the homeowner’s water bill dropped the next month.
Toto Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach
We carry genuine Toto service parts for the most common Corona service calls: G-Max and Tornado fill valves, flappers, tank-to-bowl gaskets, wax rings, and Washlet inlet filters and hoses. Genuine parts matter on Toto equipment because the engineering tolerances are tighter than most owners realize. A good example is the G-Max flapper: the aftermarket version is made of a softer rubber that warps in warm tank water and loses its seal within a year. That’s not a savings, that’s a repeat service call.
On the repair-vs-replace question, we’ll give you a straight read. A Drake or Ultramax II with a worn fill valve is almost always worth repairing. Even if the bowl has cosmetic wear, the porcelain itself lasts a long time. But a Neorest with a dead control board or a pump that’s been grinding scale for three years is often not worth rebuilding, and we’ll say so. In those cases, a new Drake with a Washlet seat is frequently the smarter spend, and it keeps you on Toto without the integrated electronics risk. Call (833) 382-8544 and we’ll give you the numbers before we touch anything.
Our Toto Service Process – Step by Step
- 1
Diagnosis. We start by checking the specific Toto model against its documented failure points: fill valve seating and flapper condition on Drakes, inlet filter and nozzle condition on Washlets, and pump pressure and error history on Neorests. In Corona, we also test the incoming water hardness because it changes how aggressively a fixture scales over time.
- 2
Repair or installation. We install genuine Toto parts or set the new fixture to the correct rough-in, check the flange condition and replace the wax ring if there’s any sign of a previous leak, and adjust the fill valve to the marked water line. On remodels where tile work is involved, we sequence the plumbing rough-in before the tile and fixture setting so the Toto goes in clean.
- 3
Testing. We run the flush cycle multiple times, check for any water at the base, test the Washlet spray and seat functions, and watch the fill valve through a full cycle. On Neorests, we clear stored error codes after repairs and run the pump through a full cleansing cycle before we call it done.
- 4
Warranty and documentation. We stand behind our labor on Toto service and installs, and we explain what the manufacturer’s warranty covers on parts versus what falls to normal wear. If a part fails within the manufacturer’s window, we’ll help you file the claim, but we’re not authorized by Toto, so we always recommend keeping the original invoice and model number on hand.

AfterToto Products We Service & Install in Corona
We work on Toto Drake two-piece toilets (CST743 and CST744 series), Toto Ultramax and Ultramax II one-piece models, Toto Neorest integrated smart toilets, and Toto Washlet C-series and S-series bidet seats. We carry common service parts for Drake and Ultramax models on the truck, and we order Washlet and Neorest components as needed. For new installs, we’ll coordinate the model with your existing rough-in and recommend a bowl and flushing system that matches how the bathroom is actually used, not just what’s on the showroom floor. In Corona’s older subdivisions, that often means steering a homeowner toward a Drake instead of a Neorest when the water hardness would shorten the electronics’ life, though we also provide Toto in El Cerrito Corona.
We Also Service These Brands
Toto is one of the brands we know deeply, but Gold Star Contractors is a full-scope general contractor, not a single-brand shop. Across Corona bathroom and kitchen remodels, we also install and service KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone countertops, and Kohler fixtures, plus Toto service in Home Gardens. One contractor, every system, no handoff gaps. That’s the model we built the company around.
FAQs – Toto Construction Service in Corona
Is Gold Star Contractors authorized by Toto?
No. We are an independent contractor that installs and services Toto products, and we have no authorization or dealer agreement with the manufacturer. That independence means we work to California code and Corona’s actual water conditions, and we select parts and repair approaches based on what will last, not what a dealer program requires. Call (833) 382-8544 to schedule a free estimate.
Do you use genuine Toto/OEM parts?
Yes. On Toto service work we spec genuine Toto fill valves, flappers, gaskets, wax rings, and Washlet components. Aftermarket copies of the G-Max and Tornado flush systems underperform and often don’t seat properly in Toto’s valve housings. We’d rather install the right part once than a cheap part twice. Call (833) 382-8544 for a straight assessment.
My Toto Washlet spray got weak and the nozzles look crusty – is it failing?
Usually not. In Corona’s hard water, the nozzles on Toto Washlet C-series and S-series seats accumulate mineral scale over time, which weakens the spray and can trigger sensor fault codes. The fix is a descaling service and inlet filter replacement, and we do this routinely in Corona Hills, Sierra Del Oro, and the Temescal Valley, as well as providing Eastvale Toto service. A full seat replacement is rarely necessary unless the pump itself has failed. Call (833) 382-8544 and we’ll tell you which one you’re dealing with.
Can I put a Toto Neorest in an older Corona bathroom with a standard 12-inch rough-in?
Sometimes, and it depends on the specific Neorest model and the condition of the wall behind it. Some Neorest models require more clearance behind and around the bowl than a standard 12-inch rough-in provides, especially if the wall is out of plumb or the flange has shifted. We measure before you order, because the wrong assumption leaves a gap or a stressed wax ring. If a Neorest won’t fit cleanly, the Drake with a Washlet seat is often the better call for older Corona bathrooms. Call (833) 382-8544 for a free estimate.
My Toto Drake runs constantly after flushing – what’s wrong?
The most common cause is a worn flapper or fill valve, and on Toto Drakes the fix has to use the correct Toto-spec parts. Generic fill valves and flappers don’t seat properly in the G-Max or Tornado flush assemblies, and the toilet will start phantom-running again within weeks. We replace the worn part, adjust the valve to the marked water line, and test the cycle so it’s silent. Call (833) 382-8544 and we’ll get it fixed.
Is it worth repairing a Toto Neorest or should I replace it?
It depends on what failed. Scaled inlet filters and worn washlet hoses are cheap fixes, and we’ve saved multiple Neorest units in Corona by clearing the mineral buildup and replacing those hoses. But a dead control board or a pump that’s been grinding scale for years is often not economical to rebuild. When that happens, we’ll tell you directly, and a new Drake with a Washlet seat usually makes more sense than paying for another integrated unit. Call (833) 382-8544 and we’ll give you the real numbers.
Can you handle the tile and fixtures together when we remodel around a Toto toilet?
Yes, and that’s where Gold Star Contractors is built differently. We run the full bathroom remodel as one project: plumbing rough-in, tile, and fixture setting under a single team. That means the Toto goes in after the tile is set and the rough-in is verified, so there’s no handoff gap between trades. We also do small bathroom remodels and walk-in shower installs.
